Girls from our Preparatory school are joined by those from local primary schools from 11+ (Year 7). Our School is a place where your daughter can further develop her individual potential both personal and academic. She will be continually provided with a stimulating environment and offered help and support where necessary. This is particularly important as she approaches and undertakes public examinations.
In the first two years (Years 7 and 8) all girls study a common curriculum: English, Mathematics, General Science, Religious Education, History, Geography, French, Art and Design, Graphics, Textiles, Food, Information and Communication Technology, Music, PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) and sporting activities. In Year 8 German or Integrated Studies (Language and Communication) are added to the curriculum.
In Year 9 Physics, Chemistry and Biology are studied instead of General Science. PSHE/Citizenship, Careers Guidance and the first year of GCSE religious studies (examination to be taken at the end of Year 10) are included in the curriculum.
In Year 10 your daughter will continue with the core subject areas of English language, English literature, mathematics, science, religious studies, ICT, games and PSHCE (including Careers Guidance). All students study at least a double Science qualification and for some, there is the option of studying three individual Sciences. Some pupils have the possibility of studying up to 11 subjects to GCSE. We understand however, that there is a great deal more to our pupils than academic results and we endeavour to help your daughter to develop these aspects through sport and a rich and varied extra curricular timetable. After completing Years 7 to 11 your daughter is prepared and ready to move confidently into our excellent Sixth Form and the final phase of her educational journey within our School.
Throughout the School there are opportunities for additional educational support, including dyslexia tuition, if it is deemed necessary. We are fortunate in having on-site trained dyslexia tutors with whom pupils may receive tuition with minimum disruption to the curriculum.
